We’ve devised some tips and tricks to help you understand what you can expect during your test at an official test centre. Following our test day suggestions will not only make sure that you can achieve the IELTS score you need but also get done with your test as smoothly as possible.
Tip 1
Be sure of your test centre location and time
Before the day of your test, ensure how to
get to the test centre on time. It would be
better to visit that place and location
beforehand.
Also check the reporting time to your IELTS
test centre and arrive some time in advance..
Tip 2
Reading and understanding IELTS test terms and conditions
will make you conversant with important information
about your test day. These can be found in the Test Takers
Information part of your application form.
Arriving late to your IELTS test centre , may prohibit you
from being allowed to participate in the test.
Personal belongings along with your mobile and any other
electronic devices will be kept outside of the test room .
Please note that there will be no breaks during the tests.
No food or drink is allowed into the test room – with the
exception of water in a transparent bottle. Make sure that
you have a wholesome meal before your test.
Tip 3
Your identity documents will be checked
upon your arrival. The document you
registered with for the test will be needed. If
you arrive without the correct ID you will not
be able to take the test.
In some countries, you may also be asked to
provide a finger scan or a photo might be
taken.
Tip 4
At the end of the test remain seated until
permitted by the invigilator to leave the test
room.
If you believe that your performance may
have been affected by any issues, inform the
invigilator straight away.
If you want to make a complaint about your
test day, you must do this at the earliest
opportunity by filling in the Complaint Form.
Tip 5
During your test the following rules need to be kept in mind:
You are only allowed to have a pencil, pen, your ID, and an
eraser on your desk.
If you need to use the toilet during the test, put your hand
up to attract the invigilator’s attention and don’t disturb
other test takers. Remember you will not be given extra
time.
Raise your hand to attract the invigilator’s attention if you
want to ask a question during the test.
When it’s time to take the Listening test, check that you can
hear the recording clearly. If you can’t, raise your hand and
inform the invigilator before the test begins.
Tip 6
Special arrangements
If you requested special arrangements as a
result of a disability or other condition,
adjustments will be made for you on the day
of your test. However you need to inform the
test taker facility at least 2 months prior to the
test.
Tip 7
Finally follow all instructions carefully.
Some questions have guideline time limits for
you to follow, make sure you stay aware of
the time to ensure you have enough time to
answer each question.
Stay calm and take deep breaths if you feel
nervous or worried.
